What happens when Samuel Beckett meets his younger self?

The Two Becketts is a new play by Svend-Erik Engh inspired by the life, work and legacy of Samuel Beckett.

On stage, an older Beckett confronts the young man he once was. Between them stands Lucy, a young cellist whose music becomes a language of its own. Together with the sound of a bassoon, she creates a landscape where memory, silence and music carry as much meaning as words.

Rather than retelling Beckett's plays, The Two Becketts opens a new theatrical dialogue with his world, exploring waiting, war, love, art and the question that has followed Waiting for Godot for decades: Why should no woman wait?

Written in English, the play is intended for professional theatre companies, festivals, staged readings and audiences with an interest in contemporary drama and Beckett.
